Seeds Of Change - The Event
I am super excited to be one of the six people hosting this amazing Seeds of Change one-day conference right here in Fort McMurray. As a group, my friends and I believe that there is so much talent in Fort McMurray that there is no reason why people need to travel to have great learning.
During our one day conference, we will offer six different sessions at various times during the day so that you will have the opportunity to choose which ones you would most love to attend.
My place in the March 22nd, 2014 Seeds of Change conference is to offer one facet to the aspect of change that when combined with the information and activities from the other presenters will offer you the opportunity to take change by the horns and move on through unscathed.
So what - you ask - will I be presenting?
My session will involve the sharing of a story where change was not welcomed nor accepted. It is a brief sharing of my journey over the last 10 years. How I moved from a place of ignorance and fear into a place of open-heartedness, curiosity and hope.
Along with the sharing, we will engage in some specific yogic exercises and movements that help release the stress that change often brings. We will use gentle body movements, breath exercises and a guided meditation to achieve the peace required to move forward in our lives.
*Please note that this session is for everybody, no yoga mats are required and we will only move in ways that feel good and are accessible to each of you individually.

A bit more about Heather Thomas and why her session will be amazing:
"Heather Thomas is the owner and operator of Fort McMurray’s Ananda Center for Balance, a home-based business specializing in Yoga Instruction, REIKI Energy Healing and CranioSacral Therapy. She has been teaching yoga since January 2007 and currently offers a variety of yoga and meditation workshops, classes. She is a Directing Instructor of the Fort McMurray Satellite for SOYA, which offers Extended 200hr and 300hr (Upgrade to 500hr) Yoga Teacher Training Programs here in Fort McMurray.
Heather is a South Okanagan Yoga Academy 500hr TTP graduate (SOYA), is an Experienced Yoga Teacher (ERYT) with the Yoga Alliance in the United States and is a recognized Teaching Member of the International Yoga Teachers’ Association in Australia (IYTA). Heather is also a REIKI Master, a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and a CranioSacral Therapy Practitioner.
Like many others, Heather was first called to yoga by illness and through yoga found what was missing in her life. Since experiencing her first class in 2006 she hasn’t looked back. With the support of her loving husband and two sons, Heather is able to follow her heart and live her joy every day. She is passionate and enthusiastic about her path and lives to share this joy with others. Heather feels that the most important thing in life is to follow one’s heart. When you listen to the whispers of the heart you find your truth and through that truth, joy."
What Heather's students say:
“I have known Heather since I began my yoga journey almost five years ago. Her support and encouragement has been invaluable and her enthusiasm for life is both immense and contagious. The Ananda Center is a haven and Heather's instruction and practice embodies the principle of nurturing and balancing the mind, body and spirit.” ~ Anne
“Learning about Chakras in Heather’s natural, approachable style has really allowed me connect deeper in my yoga practice and even sitting at my office desk! This course was my first Chakra experience, and after 7 days of learning and working on the Chakra’s, I felt and looked healthier and happier. This course remains a constant in my daily life. It encourages the feeling of balance, health and connection. Thank you Heather for teaching such an inspirational course in our community!” ~Lynne
